Bio: Can trace history to Essence Of Sorrow, a Finnish melodic metal group that featured keyboardist Mikko Harkin and guitarist Jani Stefanovic on its 2006 debut album Reflections Of The Obscure. The partnership between the two led to the formation of Mehida with vocalist Thomas Vikstrom (Candlemass, 7 Days), bassist Jarno Raitio and drummer Markus Niemispelto (Wingdom).
Mehida debuted in 2007 with the full length Napal Records release Blood & Water. After recruiting a second guitarist, Olli Tanttu (Random Eyes), and new bassist, Toni Maki-Keppilampi, the group joined the Bullroser Records roster for the 2009 follow up effort The Eminent Storm.
Of Interest: Harkin was a member of Sonta Arctica at the time it recorded the full length album Ecliptica (1999), EP Successor (2000), and live album Songs Of Silence (2002). He later formed Wingdom and released the highly acclaimed debut Reality in 2005. Stevanovic is currently a member of Miseration and has previously worked with Divinefire, Sins Of Omission and Renascent. Vikstrom contributed lead vocals to 7 Days’ debut The Weight Of The World (2006).
