Bio: Resurrection Band is credited as one of the forerunners of the Christian metal and hard rock genres.  Initially known as Charity and playing a mostly acoustic set, the group came out of the early seventies Jesus Movement in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Later relocated to Chicago and became a musical outreach of the Jesus People USA community.  Changed name to Resurrection Band and released two demo tapes in 1974: All Your Days was mostly acoustic while Music To Raise The Dead headed in the groups trademark hard rock direction.

Led by the husband and wife team of Glenn (vocals/guitars) and Wendi (vocals) Kaiser, Resurrection Band initially comprised Stu Heiss (guitars), Jim Denton (bass), John Trott (drums) and Tom Cameron (Harmonica).  Cameron was part of the band for just its first two albums.

Signed to Star Song Records and released Awaiting Your Reply (1978) and Rainbow’s End (1979) before moving on to Light Records for Colours (1980), Mommy Don’t Love Daddy Anymore (1981) and DMZ (1982).

Shortened name to Rez Band and joined Sparrow Records for Hostage (1984) only to reduce it further to REZ for Between Heaven ‘N Hell (1985).

REZ went on a three year sabbatical before returning with a new bassist (Roy Montroy) and label (Grrr) for Silence Screams (1988), Innocent Blood (1989), Civil Rites (1991) and Reach Of Love (1993).

Returned to Resurrection Band moniker and recorded final releases Lament (1995) and Ampendectomy (1997).

Of Interest: Glenn Kaiser has established a solo career as a blues musician, having recorded four studio albums with his group Glenn Kaiser Band.  Roy Montroy is also a part of GKB.

Current Status: Released a three CD (and 1 DVD) boxed set entitled Music To Raise The Dead: 1972-1998 in 2008.  Resurrection Band still plays the occasional festival date, including Cornerstone 2008 and the upcoming (spring of 2010) Easterfest in Australia.
